The readings this Sunday remind us that God’s ways are not like ours. While the world prizes power, status, and relationships that benefit us, the Lord teaches that true greatness lies in humility. He is close to those who seem weak in the eyes of others, for to be poor is to be humble before God.

Hibla: The Message of the Readings

God raises up those who lower themselves and humbles those who exalt themselves. Jesus warns against treating relationships as business deals or investments, seeking only what we can gain in return. Instead, he invites us to generosity that mirrors God’s mercy: kindness to the unkind, love even for those who despise us.

Hugot: Points to Ponder

Am I willing to give and to love without expecting anything in return, even when the world says I might be taken advantage of?

Hamon: The Challenge

This week, choose one act of humble generosity—extend help, forgive, or show kindness—to someone who cannot repay you. In doing so, you reflect the heart of God who never stops giving.
