December 24, 2025
wednesday advent weekday – misa de gallo day 9
| First Reading | 2 Samuel 7:1–5, 8–12, 14, 16 |
| Psalm | Psalm 89:2–3, 4–5, 27, 29 |
| Gospel Reading | Luke 1:67–79 |
This final day of Misa de Gallo brings us to Christmas Eve. The Gospel presents the Benedictus, Zechariah’s song of praise spoken under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His canticle looks beyond his son John and points directly to the coming Messiah — the Light from on high who visits us to save and to guide.
Hibla: The Message of the Readings
God reassures David of an everlasting promise. What God began with Israel, He completes for all humanity. Christmas reveals that God’s faithfulness is not limited to one people, but offered to the whole world.
Hugot: Points to Ponder
Peace comes from trusting God’s faithful guidance, not from the absence of difficulty.
Hamon: The Challenge
Before Christmas begins, name one area of your life where you are still waiting for God’s promise. Pray the Benedictus and place that waiting into His hands, believing that the same God who kept His promise to David will guide you into peace.
