There are moments when faith feels quiet — when God seems distant, prayers feel unanswered, and life becomes noisy and exhausting. Yet today’s readings remind us that Jesus never truly left us alone. Before ascending to the Father, He promised the gift of the Holy Spirit — our Advocate, Guide, and Companion. The Spirit is not merely a symbol or a feeling; He is God dwelling within us, gently leading us back whenever we lose our way.
Hibla: The Message of the Readings
Sometimes we call it “gut feel,” conscience, or instinct — but many times, it is already the quiet prompting of the Holy Spirit. The problem is not that God stopped speaking; perhaps we simply forgot how to listen. We have become too busy talking, worrying, scrolling, and asking, that silence already feels uncomfortable. Yet the Spirit often comes not in noise, but in stillness. He reminds us, corrects us, comforts us, and slowly draws us nearer to Christ without forcing Himself upon us.
Hugot: Points to Ponder
Jesus knew the disciples would feel lost after His departure. That is why He did not leave them empty-handed; He left them His Spirit.
We were never abandoned.
Hamon: The Challenge
This week, try giving God a moment of silence every day — even just five minutes without music, phones, or distractions. Do not begin by asking for anything. Simply listen.
