He became man to save us
December 21, 2025
4th sunday of advent
| First Reading | Isaiah 7:10-14 |
| Psalm | Psalm 24:1-2, 3-4, 5-6 |
| Second Reading | Romans 1:1-7 |
| Gospel Reading | Matthew 1:18-24 |
On this Fourth Sunday of Advent, the Church gives us familiar readings once again. The prophecy and the psalm return, and the Gospel brings us back to St. Joseph. Repetition in Scripture is never accidental—it invites us to listen more deeply. Today, the angel reveals the heart of the promise: the child to be born will save His people from their sins. He is Emmanuel—God with us.
Hibla: The Message of the Readings
God did not merely send help; He entered our human story. Salvation is not only rescue from sin—it is the abiding presence of God among His people.
Hugot: Points to Ponder
Sometimes God repeats a message because we haven’t fully received it. Emmanuel means God is present in our daily struggles, our fears, and our ordinary responsibilities—just as He was with Joseph in his confusion and uncertainty.
Hamon: The Challenge
Throughout today, notice moments when you feel alone or unsure. Pause and whisper either name: Jesus—your Savior, or Emmanuel—God with you. Let that truth sink in: you are never facing anything by yourself.
