Mary was not chosen because she knew everything that would happen, but because her heart was open to God. The readings today remind us that God’s greatest works often begin with an ordinary person’s willingness to listen.
Hibla: The Message of the Readings
The Annunciation marks the beginning of salvation. Mary asked only one question—not out of doubt, but out of a desire to understand how God’s word would unfold in her life. Her Fiat was not based on complete clarity, but on trust. Salvation entered the world through a human “Yes” freely given to God’s will.
Hugot: Points to Ponder
Mary was not given the full story. She did not know the cross, the suffering, or the pain of watching her Son die. Like Mary, we often hesitate because we want answers before surrender. But God does not reveal everything at once; He asks for trust first. Every sincere “Yes” allows the Holy Spirit to overshadow our fears and bring grace from what we cannot yet understand.
Hamon: The Challenge
Today, imitate Mary—not by having all the answers, but by offering your trust. Pray with honesty and courage:
“Let it be done to me according to your word.”
