Following Christ is not only seen in extraordinary sacrifices but also in ordinary acts of love. Today’s readings remind us that every act of generosity, hospitality, and kindness offered in God’s name becomes part of our discipleship.

Hibla: The Message of the Readings

The Shunammite woman welcomed God’s prophet with generosity, St. Paul reminds us to live a new life in Christ, and Jesus teaches that even offering a cup of cold water in His name will not go unnoticed. God values not only great sacrifices but also the small acts of love done with a sincere heart.

Hugot: Points to Ponder

We often think serving God requires extraordinary deeds, yet most of our opportunities to follow Him come in ordinary moments—a patient conversation, a welcoming smile, sharing what we have, forgiving someone, or helping a person in need. It is in these simple acts that Christ becomes visible through us.

Hamon: The Challenge

This week, offer your own “cup of cold water.” Perform one concrete act of kindness without expecting anything in return. If you are able, support St. Peter’s Pence or another charitable work of the Church, remembering that even the smallest gift, when given with love, becomes an offering to Christ.
