Loving God in prayer is often easier than loving the people around us. Yet the Gospel reminds us that the God we worship is the same God who looks upon His people with compassion. To follow Christ is not only to love Him, but also to love those whom He loves.

Hibla: The Message of the Readings

God calls His people and sends them into the world as instruments of His love. Just as Jesus saw the crowds with compassion and sent His disciples to serve them, we too are called to bring God’s mercy to those in need.

Hugot: Points to Ponder

It is easy to be patient with God because He never annoys us. It is much harder to be patient with difficult people, demanding relatives, ungrateful neighbors or those who test our kindness. Yet these are often the very people Jesus places before us. Love becomes real not when it is easy, but when it costs us something.

Hamon: The Challenge

This week, look at one person through the eyes of Jesus. Before reacting with irritation or judgment, choose compassion. The people God calls us to serve may not always be easy to love, but they are always worthy of love.
